This program is an introduction to the procedural challenges and complexities of defending against a federal civil forfeiture action. The Department of Justice is increasingly using the civil forfeiture actions to combat criminal activities, including financial crimes. A federal civil forfeiture action poses an immediate threat to the property rights of everyone with in interest in the property at issue, regardless of culpability or even awareness of any alleged criminal activities. 

This program will cover the critical issues that counsel should be prepared for at the outset of a federal civil forfeiture action.
