This program will address how the practice of law impacts lawyers’ well-being, and how lawyers can use neuroscience to achieve peak performance. The program will address how legal practice has the potential to produce burnout, the reasons for the burnout, why lawyer support programs do not work, and what strategies can be employed to prevent burnout and maximize performance as a lawyer. The lecture will address best practices for peak mental performance and burnout prevention, based on current neuroscience, as well as structural modifications to law firm billing practices.

• Understand the concept of linearity and how it is the root cause of the crisis in mental health in the legal profession.

• Identify practices that can be used to create a “brain-athlete” lifestyle and law practice.
• Understand the law of diminishing returns and how to apply it to legal practice.
• Identify fee structures, billing practices, and law-firm culture initiatives that could be. employed to achieve peak performance for professional and paraprofessional staff.
