One key element in mitigating the Covid-19 pandemic is mandatory vaccination. In the United States, the burden of increasing the percentage of vaccinated Americans has fallen to employers, both public and private. With many employers, states, and localities mandating Covid-19 vaccination as a term and condition of employment, along with the issuance of a similar Federal mandate for employers with over 100 employees, employers will have to insist on proof of vaccination. However, employers will simultaneously have to address requests for “religious accommodations” by employees on the basis that their “sincerely held religious beliefs” preclude vaccination. How to respond to and evaluate these requests is a new set of challenges faced by management, HR, and general counsels. This Webinar addresses these issues, focusing primarily on the denial of requests for accommodation based on “undue hardship.”
