Much of the regulatory focus to date has been on establishing requirements for the commercial use of drones. However, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and other regulators have begun to focus on the unique data privacy and security concerns raised by the commercial use of drones. In the wake of the FTCs planned drone workshop on October 13th, Jason Haislmaier, Bryan Cave LLP, discusses these data privacy and security legal and regulatory concerns raised by the commercial use of drones and available tools and strategies for in-house and outside counsel in meeting the challenges in these areas.
