In this program, we will explore the different roles lawyers play in the live entertainment industry. We will discuss a lawyer’s ethical obligations to putative clients (and consider the definition of who constitutes a “client,” the representation of multiple clients’ interests, and the associated pitfalls of such representation). We will address the different responsibilities lawyers have in navigating the interplay between the business side of the entertainment industry and the legal obligations upon a lawyer.

Participants will have a greater understanding of the ethical considerations under the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, and how to avoid running afoul of the rules. Participants will be apprised of some of the dilemmas and dangers for lawyers, managers, executives, agents, and others when acting on the ethical stage.
