Human resource professionals and employment lawyers are being required to devote more time to helping employers manage political speech and discussions between their employees. In a virtual world, it is no longer possible to simply require employees to engage in civil discussions when social media platforms and other forms of expression continue to gain traction in workplace interactions, from recruiting to presentations to postings. Moreover, such postings may attract negative attention on social media to companies or their customers.
