Humans, including the ones practicing law, make mistakes. This presentation will focus on five basic proactive steps you can take as an attorney to avoid the spectre of a nasty malpractice suit after representation concludes. Attorneys must be proactive in mitigating risks to their practice. We will cover often-overlooked areas to mitigate risk, including: retainer revisions, client memos, client communication guidelines, and file origination and retention. Think of these tips as a CYA letter in advance so that you don’t have to send one in the future.
