The course will focus on the division of real estate among divorcing couples as well as unmarried partners. We will discuss how prenuptial and midmarriage agreements can protect a person’s interest in the property, and what to do if you want to protect yourself and you are not married. The course will also describe the pitfalls that befall practitioners when drafting divorce or separation agreements dealing with sale and buyout of real property. We will discuss how and why real estate division laws are different from other property laws. Examples and practice pointers will be provided.
