The time to prepare for a data incident is not the moment you realize the breach has occurred.

This presentation will help attendees to understand what an incident response plan should contain and how data events play out in “the real world” in regard to personnel, customers, operationally, law enforcement and otherwise, and how businesses can best prepare themselves to best weather the storm.

This presentation will also discuss states’ breach notification laws – as to how a breach is defined and mandated responses, proactive laws which also impact liability for a business in the wake of a breach, and other agreements which may define what is a breach. Finally, this discussion will provide some high-level thoughts regarding insurance coverage.
