So, you want to hang out your own shingle and open your own law practice? Or do you want to join with another lawyer or several lawyers and open a law firm? Do you think running a law practice is easy? Opening is easy, managing and running the practice is more difficult.

This course will go over the Rules of Professional Conduct and the ethical considerations you must follow to be a lawyer and to run a law practice. Lawyers are held to a higher standard than a regular business-person, yet a law firm is a (hopefully) profit making endeavor. We will explore how these two seemingly competing interests must be joined cohesively in order to manage a law firm. How do you deal with your partners, clients, vendors and run the firm in the best interest of the firm as a whole and not solely in the best interest of the managing member. This course will also touch on management concerns due to the current pandemic and its ramifications both short and long term.

We will cover RPCs: 1.1, 1.3, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 1.7-1.13, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 5.7
