Economic challenges can put lawyers and their clients under a lot of pressure. Join Sean SeLegue, a director with Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin, P.C., as he discusses some issues that can arise more frequently or be more pressing in a bad economy, such as:
• The impact of a change in control of a company on privilege and malpractice risk
• Ethical issues relating to special fee arrangements and liens
• Withdrawing from representation of an insolvent or defunct client

Sean M. SeLegue, Esq. is a partner at Arnold & Porter LLP, which recently combined with Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin, P.C., and a member of Attorney Liability and Appellate Practice Groups. A former chair of the State Bar of California's Committee on Professional Responsibility and conduct, Mr. SeLegue has deep knowledge of the law governing lawyers as well as extensive experience in trial and appellate court matters involving attorneys. His wide-ranging appellate practice, which encompasses the full range of business and other civil disputes, has earned him a listing in the prestigious Chambers USA's "Americas Leading Lawyers for Business" directory as one of only 15 individual attorneys in the "California Appellate" category. He is certified as an appellate specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Since serving as law clerk at the Ninth Circuit, Mr. SeLegue has successfully argued cases in the California Supreme Court, the California Courts of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit. Mr. SeLegue regularly lectures and writes on professional responsibility and appellate practice issues. |
