Description
Start-up companies are subject to a myriad of laws relating to the hiring, management, compensation and termination of employees. In this program, part of an ongoing new series on technology start up companies, Peter Townshend and Jill Basinger of McDermott Will & Emery LLP provide a practical introductory overview of the laws relating to the recruiting and hiring of employees; the distinctions between employees and independent contractors; rules relating to non-cash compensation, including stock options; the enforceability of non-competition provisions; and the laws and/or rules relating to discrimination, wage and hour, leaves and disability, discipline and termination.
