Celesq®-West IP Series for Corporate Counsel: SOX and IP—A Looming Trap for the Unwary

Program Number: 1858CIP

Program Date: 10/28/2008

Description

With intellectual property (IP) assets comprising more significant portions of shareholder value of, and having greater impacts on the financial condition of, all companies, the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) is increasingly likely to pose an issue with respect to those IP assets, even in cases where it has not posed an issue to date.

This month our new Celesq®-West IP Series for Corporate Counsel, especially designed for the in-house attorney, covers SOX and its increasingly close association with issues involving IP assets. Join our presenters Dean Salter and Jason Haislmaier as they discuss:
1. steps that companies should take to understand and address the potential issues posed by SOX in their procurement, protection, commercialization and overall management of IP assets;
2. the sections of SOX most likely to impact IP assets; and
3. potential situations in which SOX can and does impact IP assets and practical lessons learned from the field for dealing with such issues.
